What is LDA / LDI Therapy?

Low dose allergy (LDA) or low dose immunotherapy (LDI) is a treatment we use for a variety of immune related illnesses. These include food allergies, seasonal (hayfever) allergies, auto immune diseases, lyme disease, chron’s disease, ulcerative colitis and many more. This therapy involves a small injection of an antigen into the arm or abdomen of the patient every 2-7 weeks. This injection stimulates certain T cells which helps train our immune system to tolerate certain allergens. Patients will often notice a positive response after the first or second injection. Once a positive clinical response is achieved, it will typically last for 7 – 8 weeks after the first couple of treatments. After 4-5 sessions, the positive symptom response lasts longer and may also become permanent.
